David Moyes is now officially the manager of Man united. Moyes has done a brilliant job at Everton. Everton were in the relegation zone when Moyes joined them, some people keep on going on about how he hasn’t won a trophy but that doesn’t make him a bad manager. He has led Everton to a brighter future. Everton has come from the relegation zone to competing to get the Europe League spot under Moyes.
Moyes could be a great Man United manager, not as good as Alex Ferguson but Ferguson is undoubtedly the best manager in the world and it is likely that no one will be able to succeed him. Like Ferguson David Moyes will need time to get used to the football club and Man United may not reach their expectations and may not live up to their reputation in the first season, maybe the second season. When Ferguson became manager he didn’t win a title for the first few seasons, the fans started to become inpatient and angry. It is
important that we don’t do this with Moyes, we need to get behind the manager no matter what to ensure that Man United continue to win titles. In the last home match of the season Ferguson said “get behind your new manager” and that is exactly what every Man United fan should be doing.
I’m glad we chose Moyes as our new manager, he is a long term manager and therefore much better suited for the role as the Man United manager then other managers that were linked to Man United. There was some speculation that Jose mourinho was going to become manager, I think the decision to employ Moyes was a good decision and I think it will pay off. If we chose Jose mourinho then he would probably only stay for a couple of seasons and that is not what most Man United fans want and the players probably share there opinion. I don’t want Man United to turn in to one of them clubs that get a new manager every
season, and that is why it was important that we got a long term manager and I’m sure that Moyes is exactly that.
I can see Moyes being the manager of Man United for many seasons and become one of the greatest managers in the world. In the first season he is in charge I’m sure Ferguson will give him some advice but Moyes will have the final decision. Ferguson will find it hard not to be in control of his beloved club and will not hesitate to have a say in the future of the club. It will be strange for most Man United fans to see someone else in the manager’s area but in time most people will get used to it.
It will be interesting to see what areas Moyes will invest the clubs transfer budget in and who he will buy. Moyes hasn’t had experience of spending a lot of money as he has only had a very limited transfer budget at
Everton so the £60 million transfer budget that Man United have given him will be a great shock to him. I hope he spends the transfer budget wisely and doesn’t waste it on unnecessary players that we don’t need.
Like any other manager it will take time for Moyes to settle in, but once he does I’m sure he will continue the success of Man United.
